The appearance of fruit is very attractive and appetizing. Unlike other foods, fruit is easily and quickly prepared because they are served as they are after they're washed and wiped. They can then be placed in a bowl on the table. We don't have to cook fruit. They are better served raw.
Preparing and serving fruit One of the chief reasons for eating fruit is to get vitamin C. When food is cooked, vitamin C is destroyed by heat in the presence of air. Preserved fruit are not as desirable as raw fruit. Raw fruit is less costly. Wash fruit before serving. Handling with dirty hands may contaminate fruit skin. Flies stepping on fruit may also contaminate them. Another reason why fruit is washed is to make them more attractive. - Fruit like banana, atis, chico and oranges are served whole. - Pineapple, mango and guyabano are served sliced. - Fruits that may be served in sections are pomelo and jackfruit. - Like vegetables, fruit may be cut into pieces and made into salad. - There are some fruits which are served as fruit juice. - Canned fruit juice may be diluted or mixed with raw fruit juice to improve flavor and food value. |
