Cuts and Scrapes
Scars are souvenirs people don't like getting. A cut results when a pointed or sharp object penetrates the skin. Scrapes are tears resulting from too much friction between the skin and a hard, rough surface. To treat cuts and scrapes:

- Wash the wounded area with running water.
- Remove stubborn dirt and debris with tweezers.
- For profuse bleeding, apply direct pressure to the wound with sterile gauze or a clean piece of cloth.
- Apply antibiotics to prevent wound infection and minimize the appearance of scars.
- Cover the wound with gauze dressing.
- Consult a physician immediately for deep cuts, bleeding that are profuse and does not stop, and feelings of weakness or numbness in the affected area.
- Check the signs of infection such as pain, redness, swelling, fever, and PUS formation. Seek medical attention as appropriate.
- Avoid picking on scabs while on the healing process.
- For animal bites, see a doctor immediately so that the risk of rabies and bacterial infection can be properly assessed and treated.
