Aquariums are one way to adorn your house. Psychologists have discovered that watching your fish is relaxing and just may lower your blood pressure. Unlike other pets, which emit foul manure and require high health maintenance, fishes are the least messy. Of all pets, they're the easiest to take care of If you plan to buy an aquarium for your house, here are easy guidelines to follow:
Choosing the right aquarium. Don't be afraid to ask pet store owners how to start setting up an aquarium. They should assist you in selecting an aquarium with complete gadgets, which your pet fish will need. They should also inform you what type: whether fresh water or sea water fish you're going to buy and instruct you how to prepare the water. Listen carefully to their instructions on how to formulate the right water chemistry for your fish. How to Clean Your Aquarium. When you clean your aquarium, you will need some products to clean it safely. A flannel or soft cotton cloth will be used to wipe the algae off the side. Flannel or soft cloth should be used so the aquarium glass is not scratched. A scrub brush should be used to wash the rocks. You will also need two buckets: one to hold the rocks while you wash them and another to hold the fishes while you clean the aquarium. If it is possible, you should also have a hose with high water pressure. This cuts down on a lot of the manual work. Steps to follow: 1. Using a fish net, transfer the fish, one by one, to a bucket until all the fishes are out of the aquarium. 2. Remove all plants and ornaments. If the plants are living, put them in the bucket with the fish. 3. Put all the ornaments on the counter or in the bucket where the rocks go. 4. Siphon all the water out of the tank. 5. When you are finished, rinse the aquarium out. Check it again to make sure it's clean. 6. Fill the bucket with clean water. Again, if you have a hose with high water pressure, spray the rocks. This will help get most of the waste. 7. Scrub all ornaments and all the plastic plants. Take the filters and scrub each piece. 8. Put the rocks back into the aquarium and fill halfway with water. Put the ornaments back in and plant all the plants. 9. Fill the aquarium the rest of the way with water. Add any dechlorination fluids if needed. 10. Attach the filters and turn them on when the water is one inch from the top of the aquarium. 11. One by one, using your fish net, return the fishes. |
